This teeny cupcake shop in N. Hollywood features cupcakes so large, they even have a name for them, "Monster Cupcakes." I commend Cupcake Central for their artistic creations and originality. There's clearly a passion here to delight the viewer with unique designs and chunky toppings. However, I got a bit of granola feel in the shop, as if the place belonged on Haight-Ashbury St. in San Francisco.
Since I had just had a large lunch, I decided to forgo the Monster Cupcakes for a normal sized red velvet cupcake. Now, I don't know how the Monster cakes fair, but the normal sized one disappointed. The cake was so light and fluffy that the crumbling bites practically bounced off my plate. Surely they had used a cake-mix from a box and accidentally used too many eggs.. or skimped on the shortening? And speaking of skimping, there was very little icing on top to sink my teeth into. Finally, the cake itself was rather salty, only somewhat neutralized by the mellow frosting.
While these cupcakes might not taste the best, they'll surely excite party guests at any event with their colorful creations.
