Macaroons from Little Next Door

By Dessert Darling ·   May 4th, 2010

It's a wonder that The Little Next Door can be as darling as it is, with French cuisine as delicious as it is, yet have desserts that are so mediocre you could cry.  You might recall my less than glowing review on their flourless chocolate cake here.  Now it's the macaroons.

It's pretty hard to go wrong with macaroons.. and if you're a french restaurant, you really should be able to nail these Parisian, almond cookies.  Yet the macaroons from The Little Next Door have continuously underwhelmed me.  This time the meringue was over-cooked and crispy and the fillings were thick and dense, like little lard patties.

While these macaroons have the tasty ingredients to be delicious, the execution is simply not Melt-in-your-Mouth-Good.

I so agree – Little Next Door’s macarons are a huge disappointment. I’ve had a couple that have been okay, but they are so inconsistent that it’s just not worth it. Would much rather make the trek to paulette in Beverly Hills for macarons I know will always be perfect.

Little next door blows paulettes or lettes out of the water for macarons. I have had lettes a million times but now I am a big fan of litte next door. I had a dream about them. I am obsessed..cant stop.eating them. Salted caramel and orange blossom are the best.
