This NPR article (click here) claims that "Macaroons are the new cupcake." As Jell-O molds, doughnuts, frozen-yogurt, and currently cupcakes, have had their day in the sun as the "it" dessert, it's time for them all to step aside for the French, almond cookie, the Macaroon.
As someone who's always known about and loved Macaroons, I'd argue that the new and whimsical creation called cake-balls are actually the "new cupcake". However, cake-balls are a post for another day, so let's focus on Macaroons.
Macaroons come in various delightful colors and flavors, pack as tasty a punch as cupcakes while being nowhere near as fattening, and are more manageable to eat, more portable, and giftable all around. I've gotta say, these chi chi french cookies are looking like quite the little Starlettes as I write!
For all the reasons above, my heart is set on having a delicious array of macaroons at my wedding next year. Tune into my upcoming reviews to see how Paulette's Macaroons faired when I tried them this weekend! 🙂
What do you think though?! Are Macaroons the next "it" dessert??!

I would think so but Boule a bakery pretty much dedicated to macaroons went outta biz… then again they charged too much for them!!!
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on paulette – my favorite macarons since Boule went out of business! 🙂
