The first thing we encountered upon entering Prado, a quaint Caribbean restaurant on Larchmont, was a glorious dessert platter displaying Tarte Tatin, Raspberry Red Velvet Cake, Creme Brulee, 5-Layer Chocolate Cake, and a thin slice of Cheesecake.
Naturally, I ordered three out of five of the desserts
I sampled the Raspberry Red Velevt first and quite enjoyed the twist of taste delivered by the raspberry addition. This subtle hint of flavor neutralized the cocoa a bit, giving it a light, almost vanilla-from-a-Betty-Crocker box flavor which reminded me of childhood. Anything that reminds of childhood is a huge bonus in my book, as long as the ingredients are fresh and real! Overall, a solid 4-Cherries for Prado’s red velvet cake!
