Today I met up with my bloggin’ buddy BsideBlog for a little lunch and dessert. We stumbled upon a modern French bakery in West Hollywood called Plaisir (“pleasure” in French.. ooh la la). I was instantly smitten with Plaisir’s desire to delight! They had colorful cream puffs on three-tiered platters, gorgeous cakes on the racks, a hi-def TV playing Top Chef, and rows of i-pods and headphones for customers to chill out to their favorite tunes!
Unfortunately, the desserts let us down a bit. The red velvet cake was entirely too dry and had mild, nondescript frosting. The “Lemon” cheesecake barely had any essence of lemon and was a bit too textured with it’s mascarpone cheese. I also wasn’t sure I enjoyed the addition of hazelnuts in the crust. That all said, Plaisir’s Cream Puffs were totally delicious with a great cream to puff ratio (mostly cream). I think these colorful puffs would make adorable additions to your fun soirees!
Joyful cream puffs
Dry red velvet cake
Pretty decent lemon cheesecake
Me enjoying their i-pod with my blue cream puff!
