The other night I had the best double-date with “The Dainty Vegetarian,” Leslie Sarna, and our guys as we tried out Fig and Olive. We were all huge fans of the spacious Mediterranean restaurant that features either figs or olives in all of its exquisite dishes. Like most fabulous restaurants though, there were both hits and misses on the dessert menu. I shall highlight their BEST dessert by sharing with you this lovely Chocolate Souffle.
Wow, just look at that. What a beauty! This Souffle was actually more like a Motlen Lava Cake when you broke into it, as liquid chocolate oozed all over the place. I’ll never forget the look that Leslie’s husband had upon first bite. His eyes widened like saucers!
With extra rich chocolate, melting vanilla ice-cream, hints of candied orange, and a mint-sprig garnish, this dessert delighted us with its strong, playful flavors, and heavenly soup-like consistency. Mmmm :-9
While this chocolate dessert earns a solid 5-cherries, do avoid the utterly bland Chocolate Pot de Creme and signature Tropeizinne. Both were simply a waste of calories.
