Jillian Michaels Anti-Bloat Juice- I think it Works!

By Dessert Darling ·   June 30th, 2011

This Thinny Thursday I’m sharing Jillian Michael’s juice concoction for eliminating bloat. I kept seeing the recipe posted all over Pinterest and decided to see what the hoopla was about.  This mixture is a flavored water that you drink in addition to your regular, daily diet. It is not a fast, meal-substitute, or detox.

All you need is:

1 Dandelion Root Tea Bag

Sugar or Stevia to taste

1 Tbsp Cranberry Juice (100% sugar-free)

60 Ounces Distilled Water

2 Tbsp Lemon Juice

Mix and Voila, you have yourself a surprisingly delicious, lemonade like drink.~

It’s claimed that these combined ingredients make a fantastic and natural diuretic, that when consumed for seven-days straight, can make you drop five to ten pounds in water-weight. Wow! I am not a doctor and do not have a medical background. I’m just relaying what has seemed to work for other people online. Personally, I’m only day 3 days into drinking this mixture and I’ve gotta say, I Love it! I think it’s working… at the very least, I’m drinking lots of fluids!

XOXO

I started this yesterday. I too had seen it on pintrest. I decided to try and eat cleaner and so I thought this would go great along with that to help get rid of all the processed crap in my body. We’ll see how it goes.

Hi! I’ll be honest, that I got light-headed during that week. But I have low blood-pressure and was dealing with pre-wedding stress.. so who knows.. just something to be cautious of!

Thanks so much for posting this! I’m starting my first day of this drink. Are you only supposed to drink the fluid or can you eat with it too?

Yes! EAT! This is something to drink in ADDITION to your daily diet, not Instead of your diet~

Do you make just one batch (60 oz.) To drink all week or do you drink a full batch every day for a week?

Do You add the tea bag to the cold mixture? How long do you leave it in the mixture?

You drink 60 ounces of it a day; I made it in two day batches because I have a gallon jug that holds 128 ounces. I brewed the tea, two bags plus 16 ounces of boiling water. I let it sit for 15 minutes until it was cool and poured it in the jug. Then added 1/4 cup of fresh lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of pure cranberry juice. (I omitted the stevia.) Then I filled the jug up with water. (Remember this was a TWO day batch, hence why the ingridients are doubled.) This is just what I did, it tastes really good to me:)

Understand the tea should steep for 3 to 4 minutes only -never 15 minutes.

I got it at Fred Meyer. Any grocery store with a health food section should have it. Check the wellness teas. Mine was only like $5 for 16 tea bags!

Today, while everyone else and their partners spent the class working on their science projects, my partner spent the entire time trying to throw pieces of paper down my shirt. I’m stuck with him for 30 more days. FML

Drop 5 pounds in 7 days. It is a diuretic drink designed to rid our bodies of excess water weight and bloating. You’re supposed to drink this in ADDITION to your regular water intake for the day.

Here’s a quote from Jillian, “Hi I’m Jillian Michaels with your no sweat summer shape up trainer. A lot of my clients ask me about ways to slim down quick. One thing I recommend is a natural diuretic drink. Take 16 ounces of distilled water. A tablespoon of sugarfree cranberry juice. One dandelion root tea bag, ad two tablespoons of lemon juice, and drink. If you do that for seven days in a row then you could easily drop 5 pounds of excess water bloat.”

    Recipe:
    16 Oz dstilled water
1 TBS sugar free cranberry juice
    1 dandelion root tea bag
    2 TBS lemon juice

    mix and drink each day.

    * Note: You will probably have to get dandelion root tea from a health food store.

You’re going to find spots on the internet where they say the recipe has SIXTY (60) ounces of distilled water.

    This is WRONG!

Think about it… 60 whole oz. of water and ONE tiny little tea bag and only a single itty bitty tablespoon of cranberry juice? What’s the point? It’s definitely and logically SIXTEEN OUNCES of the water!!

    • Brittany says:
      March 4, 2012 at 5:58 pm

I think the point of the extra water is to make sure your drinking a good amount of water every day which helps flush out your system

Does it work better if you use the 16 oz? I’m on my second day and I thought 60oz was a lot for a tea bag. I’m not sure if I should change it to what JM said and do 16. Anyone try both and have the same results?

Check out her youtube video explaining how to make it:

She clearly says 60 ounces of water. Hope this helps.

I heard 60 ounces as well. I am on my 5th day and have used 60 oz. of distiller water each day.

I am starting my 3rd day of this detox and I am down 2 lbs as of this morning. The taste is actually ok. I’m using the 60 oz of water each day (4-16 oz water bottles) and I don’t boil the tea bag. I was actually able to find the dandelion root tea bags at Walmart. Also, I’m eating my sensible meals. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

What’s another tea bag substitute for dandelion root/leaf? I live in the Philippines and I’ve been searching for it to no avail. Are there any good herbal teas that can be substituted as diuretic for the dandelion root?

      Holly,
I found it in my local grocery store (Martin’s, Giant, Krogers). You can probably find it in GNC or some other health food store (or Whole Foods, Trader Joes, etc). Didn’t think to check Target or Walmart the last time I was in there.

I have been doing this for the past two days and have worked out each day…felt fine (a little bloated) yesterday, but tonight I have been a little light-headed, even though I ran early this morning. If it continues tomorrow, I’m going to have to stop.

I just started my first mix and used the 16 oz & it tastes AWFUL!!! It’s making me gag. I think I am going to try the 60 oz next time in hopes that the flavor won’t be as strong. Anyone else?

  24. Ashley says:
    January 25, 2013 at 10:28 pm

I watched the JM video to debunk the 16oz or 60oz question and she says “sixty” clearly, plus drinking 16oz isn’t really a flush by any means, so drinking 60oz makes more sense.
On Day 2 but will restart tomorrow using Triple Leaf Detox Tea (I steeped the tea 10 minutes for full benefits, then added to the water & juices). I had been using plain green tea for the last two days and have dropped 1 pound. I felt incredibly full & a bit bloated with minor stomach cramps but my understanding is that A) water is naturally filling anyways, especially when you drink 60oz! and B) toxins being flushed out cause bloat & cramps.
The need for food is decreased with this flush and hopefully I’ll see some real results in a week!
