OmygodOmygodOmgod… Let’s end this week with a bang, shall we?! Wow. Ok guys, I’ve gone 4 solid days without eating refined sugar. I know- Nuts (I’m trying to boost my energy and eat clean before the big day). I ordered a box of Christopher Elbow Artisanal Chocolates, though, to sample options for the wedding. Did I ever hit the jack-pot!! I mean, really.. I couldn’t stop saying Ohmygod-ohmygod, as I indulged in each luxurious bite. These heavenly morsels melted in my mouth with their absolutely perfect consistency, playful and harmonious flavors. And Look! They’re gorgeous to boot! Ok, these are it guys! Unless: do you think Macaroons are better favors to get at the tables?? Let me know your thoughts!! Thanks 🙂

Well, I’m against macarons… not sure how the macaron trend is going in the states, but I think that chocolate is more of a crowd pleaser, you can play more with textures and flavors, and while macarons are great in their melt-in-your-mouth goodness, they are also high in sugar, and you need to drink quite a lot if you don’t want to have sugar in your mouth when you’re eating the salad, while with chocolate (good quality chocolate) you can choose, for example, 4 different flavours and place a card with the order in which they should be eaten (yeah, I’m bossy) so you can actually enjoy more each one; for instance, white chocolate filled with passion fruit ganache (sweet, soft and melty) -> milk chocolate covered milk chocolate+coffee ganache squares (covering the sweet, cleans the mouth, could have a little kalhua (; )-> semi-dark chocolate covered salted caramel toffee hearts (coming right back to the sweet, the salt makes you salivate more, which is great prep for the final one!) -> dark belgian chocolate filled with a white chocolate+chestnut to finish (decadent, the white chocolate works great with chestnuts and the dark chocolate balances it).
Hope this is some help 🙂
Wow- Thanks for the thoughtful response!
I have to say the chocolates win the visual appeal category. I am a fan of anything that is a feast for your other senses even before you take that first bite. For wedding customization… there are more variations in color, size, shape, and texture with chocolate than macaroons. Denise’s advice (above) sounds So delicious. Note: I do have a special place in my heart for Disneyland’s Matterhorn Macaroons (http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2010/05/04/disneyland-matterhorn-macaroon/). Heaven.
It sounds like your wedding is going to be an incredible blend of experiences. I am looking forward to hearing about all the details!
Sincerely, Michael
CHOCOLATE!
I would say chocolate. I feel macaroons are bridal shower ok but not wedding worthy especially when challenged by these fab chocolate you featured!!
