This Flourless Chocolate Cake from Cafe Montana gets an extra half cherry for making my lunch date so starry-eyed. While totally gorgeous, I can’t say this slice of cake impressed me as much as it did my girlfriend. Once upon a time, Whole Foods set a high bar for the perfect Flourless Chocolate Cake with it’s rich flavor and fudgey texture (review here). By comparison, Cafe Montana’s rendition was a bit too mild and bouncy (like a soufflé). Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a little bounce now and then, but to take this Flourless Chocolate Cake to the 5-cherry level, it needs chocolate chips baked inside or chocolate sauce on top. Good news though, this cake is Gluten Free and tolerated by people with Celiac’s disease.
